My latest Amazon Free Day Promotion from February 12 to 14

I ran a promo for the 1st book in my series, All In: The Globe Trot Shuffle from February 12th to the 14th. I’ve given that book away many times in the year since its been published, so I wasn’t expecting too much. The best promo I’ve had gave away almost 2 thousand books. That generated me 2 reviews.  The worst one, I gave away around 50 books.

For this promotion, I gave away nearly 300 books and had a few immediate purchases of my follow on books in the series.  That was great to see because my sales and KNP pages read have been sub-par for the last couple of weeks.  I’m expecting a few more follow on sales from some of these downloads in the coming weeks. I can’t blame anyone but myself for the dip in sales, I haven’t promoted my series lately. I’m currently writing a new series of a different genre and I’m focused solely on that.

My promo went from 2/12 to 2/14. I used three paid promotion services: Bookbongo & eBookasaurus on the 12th, and Choosybookworm on the 13th. I didn’t use any paid services on the 14th, which was the day I gave away the fewest books. I was also at work from 7:30 a.m. and didn’t get home until 5 p.m. to tweet about the promo. I can’t say for sure that using those paid promo sites helped, but those were the days when I had a good number of books given away. Out of the three days, I gave away the most on Monday, the 13th when it was promoted by Choosybookworm.  I also posted in FB groups that day and tweeted about it a lot that day with many different hashtags, but I did that on the 12th and 14th as well.

During this promo, I signed up for free sites and had my book listed from the 12th to the 14th to run in conjunction with the paid sites. Some ran my book on their sites or put them in their newsletters, many didn’t. The sites I signed up for were: Armadillo Books, Free99Books, It’s Write Now, Bookscream, eBooklister, awesomegang, bookzio, askdavid, readfree.ly, and discountbookman.

I posted in FB groups, Goodread groups, and on my author/book FB pages. I tweeted the different Amazon country book links in English and their local language as well (Amazon UK, Amazon NL, Amazon IN, Amazon FR, etc). This didn’t help me at all. I only had readers from the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia download my books. One person from France downloaded my book, so thank you to whoever you are who downloaded there. Thank you to everyone who downloaded my book everywhere else.  I appreciate everyone’s help in retweeting me and posting about my free promotion on their sites.

In addition to those immediate sales of the other books in my series, I’ve already had people add my book to their to-read lists on Goodreads.  That’s about it.  I consider this promo a success, and will do it again.  I’m not sure I’ll pay for another promotion in the future.  I’ve had about the same amount of downloads and follow on sales using Twitter and free sites as when I pay for promotion.

In case you’re wondering about the 2,000+ free downloads, I checked my files.  I promoted All In:  The Globe Trot Shuffle two months after it was published.  It was the same month another book of mine was published.  The promotion lasted only one day, a Wednesday.  From what I can find, I used the following sites:  askdavid, IBD Promos, Korner Konnection, NewFreeKindleBooks, BookHippo.uk, Choosybookworm, awesomegang, vinnybookman.  I’m sure I paid for at least one of them.  There were probably a few others I used, but I didn’t save the emails.  This was also the 2nd promotion I ran.

Good luck in your promotions, and I’ll let you know how my next one goes.

Congratulations. I can learn a lot from you. I finally published my first in series children’s book dedicated to my niece, White Bear’s Big Adventure. Can’t wait to learn about your new series.

    1. prp3theauthor – Crystal Coast, North Carolina – I was born in California, but lived in Japan and North Carolina as well. My Dad was a career Marine, and married my Mom where he met her; in the Philippines. I have two sisters, and I am an uncle. I graduated high school in California, and went straight into the Marines. College didn't appeal to me at all. Neither did living in the middle of the desert in California. Nothing could convince me to stay, or go to college. My mind was set to get out of there, and to see the world. I was in from 2000 to 2004. I'm also an Iraq War Veteran. Specifically the Invasion of Iraq in 2003 with the 1st Marine Division. After the Marines, I went to college. I received my AA from Coastal Carolina Community College, and my BA from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. I met my wife while I was a student intern with the US Department of State. If you know any college sophomores, please tell them to check out the State Department website. They have a ton of internship opportunities in the US, and abroad. Anywho, I was assigned to the US Embassy in Manila, Philippines when we met. My future wife worked in my building. Or I worked in hers since I was just an intern. She stayed in Manila while I got a job in Iraq. Without going too far into it in my about me description, I got a job with a company in Northern Virginia. They sent me to Fort Benning, Georgia for civilians working in a dangerous area (CRC). And then to Germany. I got to travel to Switzerland, and Italy as well. Then it was Iraq from 2007 until 2009. I wanted to spend more time with my family, so I transferred from Iraq to Masirah, Island in Oman. I was able to bring my family with me there to a Royal Air Force of Oman air base that had an American contractor for the US military presence. We stayed there from 2009 until 2011. Then I took a transfer to US Air Force base right outside of Doha, Qatar. That was a whole different kind of experience. We lived in Doha while I drove to the base for work. We were there from 2011 until 2014. In 2014, I brought the fam here to North Carolina. I've been to dozens of countries, but I've never been to anywhere quite like the Crystal Coast, the Outer Banks of NC. Take a visit out here in the summer, and you'll see why. And that's pretty much all there is about me. I have a day job but I create content whenever or wherever I can. My proudest content creation are my books, as I have nine and more on the way. I'm getting into the vlogging game now, and I'm enjoying that just as much as being an Author. I'm even getting my family involved. My wife and I have four children, and we like to document our adventures. We go fishing, cast netting, crabbing, and hiking. We hike around the coast, and visit the barrier islands off of the Crystal Coast. We also like to take road trips when the kids aren't in class. We've driven to D.C., Orlando, and as far away as St. Louis. When the kids are in class, we spend our free time at their dance and sports practices, games, and recitals. After the high paced jet setting lifestyle I had, I love putting down roots with the fam. I'm pretty laid back, and enjoy spending time with family, and friends. I love watching football. I play fantasy football, and even have been to see the Carolina Panther's play. I'm actually a fan of the Los Angeles Chargers, but since I live in NC, I go for the closest stadium. That's about it I guess. I like to write. I have stories I want to tell. My plan is to add positivity to the world, and I'm excited to be able to do so.

Thanks! Congrats on your publication, that’s great news. Are you on Goodreads.com? There are many groups of authors who like to help other Authors there. People answer questions and give tips and advice to help. There are genre specific groups as well. I’m in a group called Support Indie Authors and have learned so much from other Authors in it. I picked up a copy White Bear’s big Adventure and I’m looking forward to reading it
